Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at JCU Fall Invitational

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team finished eighth at the 27-hole John Carroll University Fall Invitational that was held at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Cleveland on Sunday, Sept. 5. [Complete Results]
Hiram shot a team total of 516 strokes (163+353=516) to finish eighth of eight teams. Host school John Carroll won the event with a team total 453 strokes (141+312=453). Baldwin-Wallace College was second at 465 strokes (149+316=465) and the University of Mount Union was third at 466 strokes (148+318=466).
Individually for Hiram, Chad Casey led the Terriers with a 27-hole total 122 strokes (41+81=122) on the par 72, 6,646-yard course layout and finished tied for 26th overall. Junior Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) was second with 127 strokes (40+87=127) and senior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) was third at 131 strokes (40+91=131). Rounding out the Hiram competitors was Ethan Tope and sophomore Zach Baker (Lewis Center) with tournament totals of 136 strokes (42+94=136) and 138 strokes (44+94=138) respectively.

Men’s Golf Finishes Eighth at NCAC Championships

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team finished in eighth place after the final round of the season-ending 2010 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships today (Sunday, May 2) hosted by Kenyon College at the Mount Vernon Country Club in Mount Vernon. [FINAL Results]
Hiram shot final round team total of 343 strokes and finished the 54-hole event with 1017 total strokes (334+340+343=1017) to place eighth of nine teams. Ohio Wesleyan University took home the championship title with 914 strokes (303+299+312=914) followed by Wittenberg University in second with 918 strokes (307+310+301=918). Allegheny (Pa.) College rounded out the top three schools with 944 strokes (325+309+310=944).
Sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) shot the low round of the day for the team (81) and ended the tournament with 244 strokes (82+81+81=244) to lead the Terriers and placed 19th overall. Freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) finished second at 255 strokes (84+85+86=255). Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) was third at 255 strokes (84+85+86=255) followed by junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) in fourth with 263 strokes (85+90+88=263). Junior Jon Rice (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) rounded out the Hiram scoring with 267 strokes (90+84+93=267).

Men’s Golf Finishes 13th at The College of Wooster Nye Invitational

WOOSTER, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team placed 13th after the final round of the annual Nye Invitational today (Saturday, Apr. 24) hosted by The College of Wooster at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster. [FINAL Results]
The Terriers posted a two-day combined score of 698 strokes (345+353=698) to place 13th overall. Malone University won the overall event with a team total of 590 strokes (291+299=590). Baldwin-Wallace College was second at 607 strokes (301+306=607) and John Carroll University rounded out the top three schools with 624 strokes (316+308=624).
Individually, junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) led Hiram with a two-day total 164 strokes (84+80=164) and placed in a tie for 40th. Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) shot a pair of 85′s to finish second on the team with 170 strokes (85+85=170). Sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) was third at 172 strokes (83+89=172) and junior Jon Rice (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) was fourth with 192 strokes (93+99=192). Junior Michael Walton (Mineral Ridge) rounded out the Hiram scores with 214 strokes (104+110=214).
Hiram will wrap-up the 2009-10 season next Saturday-Sunday, May 1-2 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Kenyon College. The first round begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Apple Valley Golf Course in Gambier.

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team finished eighth overall after the final round of the Wittenberg University Invitational today (Sunday, Apr. 18) at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield. [Final Results]
Hiram carded a total of 327 strokes on the final day to end the tournament with 673 total strokes (346+327=673) to place eighth of nine teams. Host school Wittenberg won the eventh with 592 strokes (307+285=592). Ohio Wesleyan University finished second with 608 strokes (312+296=608) and Allegheny (Pa.) College rounded out the top three with 613 strokes (310+303=613).
Individually, junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) shot a 73 on the final day to end the tournament with a two-day total 153 strokes (80+73=153) and finished in a tie for 10th overall. Sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) was second at 167 strokes (90+77=167) followed by sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) in third with 175 strokes (87+88=175). Freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) carded back-to-back 89′s to finish the tournament with 178 strokes and placed fourth on the team. Junior Michael Walton (Mineral Ridge) completed the list of Hiram competitors with 210 strokes (108+102=210).
Hiram will compete next Friday-Saturday (Apr. 23-24) at The College of Wooster Nye Intercollegiate Tournament at Wooster Country Club in Wooster.

TIFFIN, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team finished fifth of 10 teams following the final round of the Heidelberg University Spring Collegiate Classic today (Friday, Apr. 2) at Mohawk Country Club in Tiffin. [Complete Results]
The Terriers ended the tournament with a total of 700 strokes (364+336=700) to place fifth overall. Adrian (Mich.) College won the overall event with 634 strokes (317+317=634) followed by Columbus State Community College in second at 645 strokes (324+321=645). Host school Heidelberg rounded out the top three teams at 666 strokes (341+325=666).
Individually, Hiram was led by junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) who shot an 82 on the final day and ended the two-day event with a total of 173 strokes and placed in a tie for 25th overall. Freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) was second with 185 strokes (99+86=185) and sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) was third at 170 strokes (86+84=170). Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) ended the two-day event with 172 strokes (88+84=172) to place fourth on the team and junior Doug Stark (Winder, Ga./Winderbarrow) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 193 strokes (101+92=193).
Hiram will compete on Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 17-18 at the Wittenberg University Tournament at the Springfield Country Club.

HOWARD, OHIO – The Hiram College men’s golf team finished 10th after the final round of the Kenyon College Invitational today (Sunday, Mar. 28) at Apple Valley Golf Course in Howard. [Complete Results]
The Terriers completed the final round with a team total of 361 strokes and finished with a two-day total of 695 strokes (334+361=695) to place 10th of 10 teams. Madonna (Mich.) University took home top team honors with 614 strokes (303+311=614). Walsh University was second with 644 strokes (319+325=644). Daemen (N.Y.) College and the University of Northwestern Ohio finished in a tie for third with 646 strokes each.
Individually, junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) led the Terriers with a two-day total 166 strokes (79+87=166) on the par 72, 6,946-yard course layout and finished in a tie for 28th overall. Freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) and sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) both carded 168 strokes to place in a tie for second on the team with identical rounds of 81 and 87. Junior Jon Rice (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) was fourth with 193 strokes (93+100=193) and junior Michael Walton (Mineral Ridge) rounded out the Terrier competitors with 199 strokes (94+105=199).
Hiram will next compete in the Wittenberg University Tournament on Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 17-18 at Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield.

CRESTON, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team placed eighth after the final round of the Hiram Invitational today (Sunday, Sept. 27) at Hawk’s Nest Golf Course in Creston. The invitational was the second of four North Coast Athletic Conference golf championship events to be held this year. [Final Results]
Hiram shot a final round team total of 383 strokes to end the two-day event with 761 total strokes (378+383=761) and placed eighth out of eight teams. Wittenberg University won the event with 600 total strokes (303+297=600) followed by Ohio Wesleyan University at 610 strokes (314+296=610). Allegheny (Pa.) College rounded out the top three teams with 615 strokes (322+293=615).
Individually, junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) duplicated his opening round score with an 88 to lead the Terriers with a two-day total 176 strokes (88+88=176) on the par 72, 6,680-yard course layout and finished 41st overall. Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) was second with 181 strokes (89+92=181) followed by junior Travis Subda (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) with 196 strokes (100+96=196). Freshman Robert Glowacki (Lorain) completes the list of Hiram competitors with 208 strokes (101+107=208).
Hiram concluded its 2009 fall schedule this weekend and will be off until Feb. 27 – Mar. 5 when the Terriers travel to Pinehurst, N.C. for their annual spring break training trip.

MEDINA, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team placed 11th after the final round of the Baldwin-Wallace College Invitational today (Monday, Sept. 21) at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina. [Complete Results]
After a first round that was halted to darkness on Sunday (Sept. 20), the Terriers finished with a two-day total of 740 strokes (357+383=740) to place 11th overall out of 11 teams. Otterbein College won the event with a team total of 618 strokes (303+315=618), followed by Mount Union College in second with 626 strokes (313+313=626). John Carroll University rounded out the top three teams with 630 strokes (315+315=630).
Leading the way for Hiram was junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) who carded a two-day total 175 strokes (83+92=175) on the par-72, 6,917-yard course layout and placed 56th overall individually. Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) finished second with 180 strokes (92+88=180) and freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) was third at 187 strokes (88+99=187). Junior Travis Subda (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) posted the fourth lowest score for Hiram with a total of 198 strokes (94+104=198) and freshman Robert Glowacki (Lorain) completed the field for the Terriers with a tournament-total 230 strokes (107+123=230).
Hiram will conclude its 2009 fall schedule when it hosts the Hiram Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 26-27 at Hawk Nest Golf Club in Creston.

DELAWARE, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team completed the first North Coast Athletic Conference event of the season as the Terriers placed eighth at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational at Delaware Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.
The Terriers ended the tournament with a team total 748 strokes (368+380=748) to place eighth of eight teams. Wittenberg University won the event with a two-day total 595 strokes (291+304=595). Wabash (Ind.) College was second at 631 strokes (304+327=631) while host school Ohio Wesleyan rounded out the top three with 608 strokes (309+299=608).
Individually, Hiram was led by freshman Zach Baker (Lewis Center) who carded a tournament total 166 strokes (84+82=166). Junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) was second at 181 strokes (89+92=181) and sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) was third with 183 strokes (87+96=183). Junior Travis Subda (Spring, Texas/Klein Collins) shot a two-day total 218 strokes (108+110=218) while junior Michael Walton (Mineral Ridge) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 236 strokes (113+123=236).
Hiram will next compete in the Baldwin-Wallace College Tournament next Sunday-Monday, Sept. 20-21 at Fox Meadows Country Club in Medina. The first round is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MEADVILLE, PA. — The Hiram College men’s golf team finished eighth of nine teams after the final day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Invitational today (Sunday, May 2) hosted by Allegheny College at the Country Club of Meadville in Meadville, Pa. [FINAL Results]
Hiram shot a final round 347 to end the tournament with a total of 1062 strokes (362+353+347=1062) to place eighth overall. Ohio Wesleyan University won the final NCAC event of the season with 898 strokes (304+302+292=898). Wittenberg University was second at 918 strokes (298+316+304=918) and host school Allegheny rounded out the top three with 921 strokes (307+312+302=921).
Individually, the Terriers were led by senior Brian Wilthew (Garrettsville/Garfield) who carded a final round 74 to end the tournament with 241 strokes (87+80+74=241) on the par 72, 6,629-yard course layout and finished tied for 20th overall. Sophomore Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) was second with 257 strokes (82+86+89=257) and freshman Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) finished third at 261 strokes (87+86+88=261). Sophomore Doug Stark (Winder, Ga./Winderbarrow) had 303 strokes (106+101+96=303) to place fourth on the team while sophomore Mike Walton (Mineral Ridge) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 315 strokes (110+103+102=315).
