Select Members of Women’s Golf Team Complete Denison University Fall Classic

GRANVILLE, OHIO  –  Select members of the Hiram College women’s golf team have completed the final day of competition of the Denison University Fall Classic today (Sunday, Sept. 5) at the Granville Golf Course in Granville.  [FINAL Results]

Three members of the team competed in the two-day event and do not qualify in the team standings.  Host school Denison won the tournament with a total of 776 strokes (378+398=776).  Heidelberg University was the only other school competing and carded a team-total of 855 strokes (425+430=855).

Hiram was led by junior Krisinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) who carded an 86 on the final day, and ended the tournament with 175 total strokes (89+86=175) on the par 71, 5,530-yard course layout to capture medalist honors.  Senior Sasha Davidson (East Hampton, Conn./East Hampton) was second with 214 strokes (106+108=214) and freshman Carrie Dyer was third at 229 strokes (112+117=229).

Hiram will next compete at the Baldwin-Wallace College Invitational next weekend, Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 11-12 at Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake.

Women’s Golf Finishes in a Tie for Fifth at Wittenberg University Spring Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO  –  The Hiram College women’s golf team finished in a tie for fifth place after the final round of the Wittenberg University Spring Invitational today (Sunday, Apr. 18) at Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield.  [Final Results]

Hiram carded a final-day total of 409 strokes and ended the two-day tournament with 830 total strokes (421+409=830) and placed in a tie with Denison University for fifth place overall.  Allegheny (Pa.) College won th event with 674 strokes (338+336=674) followed by Otterbein College in second with 678 strokes (353+325=678).  Ohio Northern University rounded out the top three schools with 689 strokes (345+344=689).

Individually, sophomore Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) led the Terriers with a tournament total of 176 strokes (85+91=176) and placed in a tie for 11th overall.  Senior Rebekah Williams (West Salem) was second with 209 strokes (108+101=209) followed by sophomore Amelia Mount (Strongsville/Padua) in third with 221 strokes (116+105=221).  Junior Sasha Davidson (East Hampton, Conn./East Hampton) was fourth at 224 strokes (112+112=224) and senior Natasha Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney)  rounded out the Hiram competitors with 274 strokes (125+149=274).

Hiram will conclude the 2010 spring season in a dual match against Ursuline College on Saturday, Apr. 24.

Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Mount Union College Invitational

ALLIANCE, OHIO  — The Hiram College women’s golf team placed eighth overall after the final round of the Mount Union College Invitational today (Sunday, Mar. 28) at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance.  [Complete Results]

The Terriers posted a final-day total 416 strokes and ended the two-day event with 849 total stroks (433+416=849) to place eighth of nine teams.  Walsh Universitywon the event with a tournament total 712 strokes (349+363=712).  Mercyhurst (Pa.) College was second at 724 strokes (363+361=724) and host school Mount Union rounded out the top three at 729 strokes (365+364=729).

Individually, Hiram was led by Kritsinnee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) who carded back-to-back rounds of 82 strokes to finish the tournament with 164 total strokes (82+82=164) on the par 72, 5,864-yard course layout.  Her 164 stroke total also put her in a tie for second overall.  Sophomore Amelia Mount(Strongsville/Padua) was second on the team with 225 strokes (117+108=225) and senior Rebekah Williams (West Salem) was third at 227 strokes (114+113=227).  Junior Sasha Davidson (East Hampton, Conn./East Hampton) fiinshed fourth with 233 strokes (120+113=233) and senior Natash Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney) rounded out the Hiram competitors at 272 strokes (129+143=272).

Hiram will next compete on Friday-Saturday, Apr. 9-10 at the Capital University Purple & White Invitational at Foxfire Country Club in Lockbourne, Ohio.

Women’s Golf Completes Final Round of Heidelberg Invitational

TIFFIN, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s golf team competed as individuals in its final event of the fall season at the Heidelberg University Invitational at Mohawk Country Club in Tiffin. [Complete Results]

Ohio Northern University won the event with a tournament total 681 strokes (338+343=681). Baldwin-Wallace College was second at 795 strokes (397+398=795) and Defiance College was third with 813 strokes (404+409=813).

Indvidually, sophomore Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) shot a pair of 79′s to finish the tournament with a total of 158 strokes and captured medalist honors by five strokes over second place. Senior Rebekah Williams (West Salem) was second with 226 strokes (111+115=226) and sophomore Amelia Mount (Strongsville/Parma-Padua) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 229 strokes (111+118=229).

Women’s Golf Finishes Second at Hiram Invitational

GARRETTSVILLE, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s golf team finished second of three teams at the one-day Hiram Invitational at Sugarbush Golf Club in Garrettsville. [Complete Results]

Hiram shot a team total of 408 strokes to finish second. Denison University won the event with a one-round total 403 strokes. Ursuline College was third at 412 strokes.

Individually, sophomore Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) led Hiram with a round of 86 strokes (43+43=86) and posted the low round amongst all players to capture medalist honors. Senior Rebekah Williams (West Salem) was second at 102 strokes (50+52=102) followed by sophomore Amelia Mount (Strongsville/Parma-Padua) in third with 103 strokes (52+51=103). Sophomore Alexandria Harden (Marysville/Hilliard Darby) carded a tournament total 117 strokes (59+58=117) to round out the Hiram team scoring. Also competing was senior Natash Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney) who shot a 127 (59+68=127) and junior Heather Brown (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) shot an 18-hole total 140 strokes (73+67=140).

Hiram will compete in its final fall tournament of the season next weekend Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 26-27 at the Heidelberg College Invitational in Tiffin.

Women’s Golf Finishes Tenth at Baldwin-Wallace College Invitational

COLUMBIA STATION, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s golf team placed 10th overall after the final round of the Baldwin-Wallace College Invitational at Creekwood Golf Course in Columbia Station. [Final Results]

Hiram shot a final round 436 to end the two-day event with 874 strokes (438+436=874) to place 10th of 10 teams on the par 72, 6,154-yard course layout. Cleveland State University finished first with 651 strokes (327+324=651) followed by Clarion (Pa.) University in second with 662 strokes (327+335=662). Gannon (Pa.) University rounded out the top three with 695 strokes (352+343=695).

Individually, sophomore Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Freyburg Academy, Maine) shot a final round 79 to finish the event with a team-leading 162 total strokes (83+79=162) and ended in a tie for fourth place overall. Sophomore Ameilia Mounts (Strongsville/Padua) was second on the team with a tournament total 221 strokes (115+106=221). Senior Rebekah Williams (West Salem) was third at 235 strokes (113+122=235) and junior Heather Brown (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) was fourth on the team with 256 strokes (127+129=256). Sophomore Alexandria Harden (Marysville/Hilliard Darby) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 279 strokes (143+136=279).

Hiram will host the 18-hole Hiram Invitational next Sunday, Sept. 20 at Sugar Bush Golf Club in Garrettsville.

Women’s Golf Competes at Thiel (Pa.) College Invitational; Khowcharoen Wins Medalist Honors

GREENVILLE, PA. — Freshman Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) carded a 76 to win medalist honors as the Hiram College women’s golf team ended its season yesterday (Saturday, Apr. 18) at the 18-hole Thiel College Invitational at the Greens of Greenville Golf Course in Greenville, Pa. The Terriers finished with a combined 440 stroke total to finish third of three teams. Grove City (Pa.) College won the event with 401 strokes and Westminster (Pa.) College was second with 414 strokes.

Khowcharoen led the Terriers with her 76 on the par 72, 5,812-yard course layout to capture medalist honors. It marked the second time this year that she has finished as tournament champion. Khowcharoen also finished as the top golfer at the John Carroll University Fall Invitational in September. Amelia Mounts (Strongsville/Padua) posted the second-best score on the team with 118 strokes and Alexandria Harden (Marysville/Hilliard Darby) was third at 119 strokes. Sophomore Heather Brown (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) carded a 127 to place fourth and junior Natasha Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 142 strokes.

Women’s Golf Finishes 16th at Capital University Purple & White Invitational

LOCKBOURNE, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s golf team placed 16th of 16 teams following the final round of the Capital University Purple & White Invitational this afternoon (Saturday, Apr. 4) at Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne. [FINAL Results]

Hiram bettered its team score by 51 strokes on the final day with a 467 to finish the tournament with a combined 985 strokes (518+467=985) to place 16th overall on the par-72; 5,985-yard course layout. Bethel (Ind.) College claimed the tournament title with a two-day total of 678 strokes (348+330=678). Ohio Northern University finished second with 720 strokes (375+345=720) and Otterbein College rounded out the top three with 723 strokes (368+355=723).

Individually for Hiram, freshman Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Thailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) carded an 86 in her final round to finish the tournament with a total of 180 strokes (94+86=180) and finished tied for 10th overall. Freshman Alexandria Harden (Marysville/Hilliard Darby) was second with 261 strokes (132+129=261) and junior Natasha Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney) was third with 271 strokes (147+124=271). Sophomore Heather Brown (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) rounded out the Hiram competitors at 273 strokes (145+128=273).

ALLIANCE, OHIO — The Hiram College women’s golf team officially began its spring season with the first round of the Mount Union College Invitational today (Sunday, Mar. 29) at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance. [Final Results]

Hiram shot a team total 491 strokes on the final day on the 5,814-yard, par-72 course layout to post a two-day total 983 strokes and finish ninth overall. Gannon (Pa.) University won the tournament with a total of 671 strokes (331+340=671). Ohio Northern University was second with 686 strokes (338+348=686) and Mercyhurst (Pa.) College rounded out the top three at 723 strokes (368+355=723).

Individually, Hiram was led by freshman Kritsinee Khowcharoen (Muang, Phitsanulok, Tailand/Fryeburg Academy, Maine) who shot a 91 on the final day to finish with a tournament total 177 strokes (86+91=177) and finished 11th overall. Freshman Amelia Mounts (Strongsville/Parma Padua) was second with 229 strokes (118+111=229). Sophomore Heather Brown (Alger/Upper Scioto Valley) was third with 270 strokes (131+139=270) and junior Natasha Glodek (Wooster/Cardinal Mooney) rounded out the Hiram competitors with 307 strokes (157+150=307).

Hiram will compete next weekend at the Capital University Purple & White Invitational on Friday-Saturday, Apr. 3-4 at Foxfire Golf Course in Lockbourne. The first round is scheduled to begin on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Women’s Golf Hosted Ursuline College in Darkness Shortened Dual Match

October 27, 2008

HIRAM, OHIO  –  The Hiram College women’s golf team hosted a dual match against Ursuline College on Friday, Oct. 24 at Sugar Bush Golf Course in Garrettsville, Ohio.

The dual match was eventually called because of darkness and the only two golfers to complete their rounds were freshman Alexandra Harden (Marysville/Hilliard Darby) from Hiram and Susan Scholtz from Ursuline.  Harden carded an 18-hole total 118 strokes while Scholtz shot an 87.

The women’s golf team has concluded the 2008 fall season with the dual match against Ursuline this past weekend.
