Sonntag and Murphy in Concert January 17

Please join us for “Der Frühling wird kommen” – “Spring is coming,” a concert on Sunday, January 17, 2010.

Assistant Professor Dawn Sonntag and guest pianist Dr. Karen Murphy of Mississippi State University will perform a concert of German, Norwegian, French and English art songs. The selections are by composers Franz Schubert, Edvard Grieg, Lili Boulanger, and Dawn Sonntag and are set to poetry by Wilhelm Müller, Helmina von Chezy, Henrik Ibsen, Bjørn Bjørnson, Francis Jammes, and Sara Teasdale, close friend of Hiram alumnus Vachel Lindsay.

The concert will be held in Hayden Auditorium and begins at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
